A growing number of people are choosing to train their own service dogs and I am here to help. This will help keep costs down and improve the relationship you have with your dog. These dogs come from a wide variety of places- some people choose to pick a dog from a breeder or rescue with the idea of training them to work in mind, while others decide a current, older pet might become a suitable partner (particularly if they develop the ability to alert to a medical condition). Handlers sometimes choose to research and train the dogs themselves, while others may employ a professional trainer or organization that accepts handler-picked dogs to help. People who train their own dogs generally a year or more with the dog "in-training," though self-trained dogs in particular never stop learning new skills. Due to the variety of issues service dogs are capable of assistance with you will need to contact me to discuss options and pricing.  If you need you dog to turn on the lights, take the trash out, and put the dishes in the sink we can make it happen.  If you can imagine it in most cases it can be done. I will train you to properly train your dog for task specific items. Together with hard work and dedication we can train your dog to assist you in everyday tasks. Prior to graduation your dog will need to pass the a test similar to the C.G.C. Test and know at least one service related task. Depending on the level of the dog when we start will determine the length of time required for training. The more service related tasks you add to your regiment the longer the training process will take. Due to the nature of my training programs training times are typically shorter than average program, more cost effective, and have more satisfying results.

This is a very rewarding course and will further strengthen the bond and trust between you and your dog. Upon Graduation you and your dog will meet all of the ADAAG Guidelines and you will be able to take your dog with unrestricted access to all public places.
